Beech V35 A-B TC Bonanza

The Beech Bonanza V35 A-B TC was manufactured from 1966 until 1970. Various serial numbers are factory turbos with TSIO-520-D Continental engines.

Beech Aircraft had long been familiar with the advantages of turbocharging, therefore, in the 1966 model year the company offered the Bonanza V35TC at a base price of $37,750.

As expected, performance increased significantly, with a maximum speed of 250 mph at 19,000 feet compared with 210 mph for the naturally-aspirated Model V35. Production of the V35TC continued into the 1967 model year, and 79 were built before production changed to the V35A-TC, of which 49 were manufactured during the 1968-1969 model years. The last turbocharged version of the V-tail Bonanza was produced in 1970. It cost $45,250. As a result, only seven were built and none were produced during 1971.

In summary, the V35 is a single-engine, piston turbo-charged aircraft configured as a cantilever low-wing aircraft with a V-tail. Distinguishing features are: retractable landing gear,  variable pitch propeller. Model V35 A-B TC Bonanza seats up to 6 passengers and 1 pilot.

History

Beech V35TC Bonanza (1966-1970)

Beech developed the turbocharged Model V35TC in 1966 when turbo charging and high altitude flying were becoming more commonplace for general aviation airplanes. Using the Continental 285 hp TSIO-520-D, the V35TC could maintain full rated power up to an altitude of 19,000 ft where it had a maximum speed of 200 kias. Normal gear-down speed went from 165 to 175 MPH.

79 V35TC were produced in 1966-1967. Oxygen system and electro-thermal propeller deice were two popular options for the Model V35TC Bonanza.

V35TC Turbo Bonanzas are standard V35s modified during production with the TSIO-520D engine under an STC. See serial number list below from American Bonanza Society.

Beech V35BTC Bonanza (1970) Serial Number D-9069 through D-10403

The last turbocharged Beechcraft Bonanza until the Model A36TC of 1979 was the 1970 Model V35B-TC. Only seven were produced. Only minor changes were implemented, including three gears down annunciator lights, anti-slosh fuel bladder ceils and new interior styling. Model V35B-TC was not produced in 1971.

The big safety improvement on the V35Bs was the addition of anti-slosh fuel cells to prevent inadvertent unporting during slips, skids and turning takeoffs, a shortcoming that had caused mishaps. Some models carry placards advising of minimum takeoff fuel, but many have anti-slosh baffles to address this.

V35B-TC Turbo Bonanzas are standard V35Bs modified during production with the TSIO-520D engine under an STC. See list below from American Bonanza Society.
